The material

Why we will not install epoxy

Epoxy is cheaper on the quote and more expensive on the calendar. Here is the part nobody tells you: your slab moves. North Texas clay swells when it rains and shrinks when it does not, and the concrete on top of it goes along for the ride. Epoxy cures rigid. It has almost no stretch in it, so when the slab shifts underneath, the coating has two options and both are failures. It cracks along the movement, or it releases from the concrete and delaminates. Polyaspartic stretches. It moves with the slab instead of fighting it, which is why it stays down through the same seasons that split an epoxy floor. It also holds its color under UV instead of yellowing, and it does not lift when a hot tire parks on it. Slabbr installs 100 percent polyaspartic. Never epoxy, at any price. You buy the floor once.

Pricing, published

Three builds. The difference is how many layers sit between your tires and the concrete.

Nobody else in this market publishes a number. We do, because the alternative is a salesperson in your driveway working out what you will tolerate. Every build below includes crack and joint repair.

Slabbr One

A real coating at the price most companies charge for paint

$6per sq ft installed

5 layers

about $2,650 for a 2-car garage

Exploded view of the Slabbr One build: a diamond ground concrete slab with a polyaspartic base coat, full flake broadcast and polyaspartic topcoat floating above it.
  1. 1

    Diamond grind and profile

Mechanical profiling with diamond tooling and HEPA extraction. We do not acid etch, ever.

  2. 2

    Crack and joint repair

Every crack chased, filled with a rigid repair polymer and ground flush before coating.

  3. 3

    Polyaspartic base coat

A polyaspartic body coat that fills the profile and locks into the slab. UV stable from the first layer up.

  4. 4

    Full flake broadcast

Vinyl flake thrown to refusal until no base color shows through. 700 plus blends.

  5. 5

    Polyaspartic topcoat

UV stable, chemical resistant, and hard enough to shrug off hot tire pickup.

Right for

Rental properties, garages that stay dry and shaded, and anyone who wants the floor sealed properly without paying for armor they will not use.

Price the One

Slabbr Prime

Most installed

The build we put in our own garages

$8per sq ft installed

6 layers

about $3,520 for a 2-car garage

Exploded view of the Slabbr Prime build: a diamond ground concrete slab with a moisture vapor barrier primer, polyaspartic base coat, full flake broadcast and polyaspartic topcoat floating above it.
  1. 1

    Diamond grind and profile

Mechanical profiling with diamond tooling and HEPA extraction. We do not acid etch, ever.

  2. 2

    Crack and joint repair

Every crack chased, filled with a rigid repair polymer and ground flush before coating.

  3. 3

    Moisture vapor barrier primer

A penetrating primer that stops vapor drive coming up through the slab. Moisture is the number one reason cheap coatings let go.

  4. 4

    Polyaspartic base coat

High elongation, so it moves with the slab instead of fighting it, and it bonds deeper than epoxy does.

  5. 5

    Full flake broadcast

Vinyl flake thrown to refusal until no base color shows through. 700 plus blends.

  6. 6

    Polyaspartic topcoat

UV stable, chemical resistant, and hard enough to shrug off hot tire pickup.

Right for

Any Texas garage that sees daily driving, summer slab temperatures, or a slab poured on ground that moves. This is the default for a reason.

Price the Prime

Slabbr Ironclad

Everything we know how to do, in one floor

$10per sq ft installed

7 layers

about $4,400 for a 2-car garage

Exploded view of the Slabbr Ironclad build: a diamond ground concrete slab with a moisture vapor barrier primer, polyaspartic base coat, full flake broadcast and two polyaspartic topcoats floating above it.
  1. 1

    Diamond grind and profile

Mechanical profiling with diamond tooling and HEPA extraction. We do not acid etch, ever.

  2. 2

    Crack and joint repair

Every crack chased, filled with a rigid repair polymer and ground flush before coating.

  3. 3

    Moisture vapor barrier primer

A penetrating primer that stops vapor drive coming up through the slab.

  4. 4

    Polyaspartic base coat

The same UV stable, high elongation chemistry as the topcoats. Polyaspartic top to bottom, not epoxy wearing a polyaspartic hat.

  5. 5

    Full flake broadcast

Vinyl flake thrown to refusal until no base color shows through. 700 plus blends.

  6. 6

    Polyaspartic topcoat, first pass

The working wear layer that takes the abuse.

  7. 7

    Polyaspartic topcoat, second pass

A second full coat for depth of gloss and a wear layer thick enough to outlive the mortgage.

Right for

Shops, lifts, wrenching bays, four car garages, and homeowners who intend to never think about this floor again.

Price the Ironclad

The install

Five steps, and the second one is the whole job

  1. A raw, dusty residential garage slab with a hairline crack running across it, before any work.

    01

    Free estimate

We measure the slab, test it for moisture, and look at every crack and joint before we put a number on anything. You get a written, itemised, fixed price. No commissioned salesperson, no discount that expires when we leave the driveway.

  2. The same slab half diamond ground to a clean open profile, with a crack chased into a V groove and filled flush with a rigid repair polymer.

    02

    Diamond grind and prep

The slab is mechanically profiled with diamond tooling under HEPA extraction, then every crack is chased out, filled with a rigid repair polymer and ground flush. We never acid wash. This step is not negotiable and it is why the rest of the floor holds.

  3. A slate blue base coat pouring and self-levelling across the ground concrete, with a wet leading edge and a drip at the corner.

    03

    Base coat application

A moisture vapor barrier primer goes down first on the Prime and Ironclad builds, because vapor coming up through the slab is the single most common cause of a cheap coating letting go. Then the base coat.

  4. Multicoloured vinyl flake chips caught mid-air as they are broadcast onto the wet base coat, packing edge to edge.

    04

    Full flake broadcast

Flake is thrown to refusal, until the floor will not take any more and no base colour shows through anywhere. A light scatter looks the same on day one and has nothing underneath it. Refusal means refusal.

  5. The finished floor: densely packed flake sealed under a deep, glossy polyaspartic topcoat with mirror reflections.

    05

    Topcoat and walk-through

Excess flake is scraped back and vacuumed, then the polyaspartic wear layer goes on, twice on the Ironclad build. We hand the floor over in person. Walk on it in 24 hours, park on it in 72.

In writing

What we put in writing before we touch your floor

01

Lifetime warranty on every interior floor

If a floor we installed inside your home ever peels, chips or flakes while you own it, we come back and re-coat the affected area. No trip fee, no argument, no warranty card to dig out of a drawer. The coverage attaches to the job itself, so there is nothing to register.

02

Diamond ground, every floor, no exceptions

Every slab we coat is mechanically profiled with diamond tooling under HEPA dust extraction. We do not acid etch, and we will not, on any job at any price. Acid is faster and cheaper and it is the shortcut behind most of the failed floors we get called out to replace.

03

The quote is the price

The number on your written quote is the number on your invoice. Crack and joint repair is already in it. We measure and test the slab before we quote precisely so that nothing gets discovered on install day that changes what you owe.

Straight answers

Questions people actually ask

How much does it cost to coat a 2-car garage floor?

A 2-car garage in North Texas is about 440 square feet, so a Slabbr flake floor runs $2,650 on the One build, $3,520 on Prime and $4,400 on Ironclad. Crack and joint repair is included in all three. Removing a failed existing coating adds $1.50 per square foot.

What is the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic?

Epoxy is a rigid resin that cures over days, ambers in sunlight and softens under hot tires. Polyaspartic cures in hours, holds its color under UV and resists hot tire pickup. In a Texas garage the correct build is polyaspartic from the base coat up, which is the only way Slabbr installs it. We do not install epoxy.

Do you grind the floor or acid etch it?

We diamond grind, every floor, with no exceptions. Acid etching does not open the concrete profile deeply or evenly enough for a coating to lock in, and it is the shortcut behind most of the failed floors we get called to replace. Grinding runs under HEPA dust extraction.

How long before I can park on my new floor?

Walk on it after 24 hours and park on it after 72. Those are real numbers for a polyaspartic topcoat, not optimistic ones. Putting a vehicle on a floor before the wear layer has fully cured is the fastest way to print tire marks into it permanently.

What is hot tire pickup?

Hot tires soften a coating and stick to it, and when the car moves, the coating lifts off in patches shaped like the tread. It happens to straight epoxy and to poorly bonded DIY kits, particularly in Texas summers. A properly installed polyaspartic wear layer does not do it.

Why is my epoxy garage floor turning yellow?

Epoxy is not UV stable. Sunlight through an open garage door or a window breaks down the resin and it ambers, usually starting within the first year near the door. There is no way to reverse it. The fix is grinding the epoxy off and recoating with a UV-stable polyaspartic system.

Will cracks in my slab come back through the coating?

A dormant crack, chased out and filled with a rigid repair polymer before coating, stays gone. A crack that is still moving because the slab is moving will telegraph through any coating on the market. We tell you which one you have at the estimate rather than after the install.

How long does a garage floor coating last?

A garage floor coating on a properly prepped Prime or Ironclad build lasts 20 years or more in a residential garage. The variable is almost never the product. It is whether the slab was ground correctly, whether moisture was addressed, and whether the flake was broadcast to full refusal.

Can you coat over an existing epoxy floor?

You can coat over an existing epoxy floor, but only after the old coating comes off. We grind the failed material back to bare concrete rather than bonding new product to a layer that has already proven it lets go. Removal adds $1.50 per square foot and one extra half day.

Do I have to empty my garage?

Yes, you have to empty the garage completely before we arrive. We are grinding concrete and running a moving cure window, and anything left inside will end up coated or in the way. Most customers move everything into the driveway for the day and put it back the following evening.

Does the Texas heat affect installation?

It affects the working window, not the outcome. Polyaspartic cures faster as slab temperature rises, so summer installs are scheduled early and mixed in smaller batches. A crew that has not run these products in July will get caught by that. We schedule around it.

How long does the whole install take?

The whole install takes one working day for most 2 and 3 car garages, start to finish. Metallic floors and anything with integral coving take two days. Commercial work is phased by zone so the business stays open, usually running overnight between close and open.

Is the estimate free, and do you use salespeople?

The estimate is free and there is no commissioned salesperson attached to it. You get a measured, written, fixed number. A 50% deposit schedules the install and the balance is due only after the floor is installed and you have walked it with us.

What does the warranty actually cover?

The warranty covers delamination, peeling and flaking on a floor we installed, for as long as you own the home on interior floors, 10 years on exterior and 2 years on commercial. It does not cover slab movement, impact damage or chemical abuse. The warranty attaches to the job. No registration required.
